Chris's Married
08/15/2003
Well there you go, here I sit and write to you as a married man. For those of
you who thought the nerves would get the better of us or just plain well
couldn't believe their mate was actually getting hitched, well now it's happened
and without a hitch to. Some of you prbably know that we were getting married on
the beach, what you wouldn't have known is that I was running 20 mins late for
my own wedding (due to forgetting Dad's pant's, hanging on a seprate hanger to
his jacket). In order to get to the wedding you must catch a ferry to get to the
island and on the way to this ferry we pased Jenny, who luckily I did not see,
however it was a relief she wasn't waiting at the alter. When on the ferry we
were thinking it was in the bag, home, done, finished, as I got out of the car
to take a stretch and check my nerves, I could see out fo the corner of my eye a
classic car and at a glimps a silouet figure against the sun in the back seat.
With out a second look I hurled myself back into the car and explained to Lozza
that he would have to direct traffic so as not to let the bridal party past us
and ultimately get to the aulter first. Needless to say the wedding whent off
without a hitch, Jenny got to relax after the speeches to resemble the lady I
had married but had not seen for the past month. The speeches were great and a
highlight for me were the telegrams, the first dance was flawless and even the
torential rainfall, that had been litterally hovering over Eastern Canada for
the week, seemed to hold off. We had a great band plenty of food, homebrew and
even a keg. The reception was hard to leave but finnaly at 3.00 in the morning
we managed to part and head for our honeymoon sweet for none of your business.
The next day was recovery and we met up with Mum, Dad, Cathy (sister) and Lozza
(Best Man) who had made it over for the wedding. We had a good bye dinner and
saying good bye to Mum and Dad was verry hard to do as well as Cath and Lozza
the next day, thanks guys for making the wedding.
Up at the alter, what was I thinking/feeling? Yes there were nerves, but for me
it felt sad because your moving on with your life, away from your parents and
looking at Dad teary eyed made it harder, you also feel that everyone in
attendance is staring straight at you and I wondered what they were thinking.
Then when she walks down the isle looking amaizing, it takes some of those
feelings back a few steps.
We spent 3 Nights at Inn on the Cove, the nicest place I have been to date and I
don't think we've had one argument since we got married, it's like lozza said as
he placed my hand on top of Jenny's, "This is the last time you will ever get
the upper hand".
Speak to you soon,
Chris and Jenny Derham.
