Mark's The Hangovers Were Worth It
Howdy ho everyone,
How is all out there in the big picture? Think I'll say that after spending time
in the big picture, I don't recon it's as big as they say....
After trying to get myself lost in the wilderness many a time over the last 2
years, weaving and balking, somehow that can of coca cola, or plastic hamburger
restaurant managed to follow me nearly all the way, even to a place I found
where coca cola is holy...!
So recently I decided to spring the crew at headquarters, and surprise the folks
by landing back home in Australia. Great to be home again, see old mates, most
still in the same traps, sample a good bowl of mum's soup, pat the dog, take the
car for a fang, have a good laugh at the same olds....
Yep, it's all good. My time abroad has been the best ever, and due to knocking
around with you all along the way also really made it what it was.
To all the dodgy meals and stomach explosions, my bartering techniques,
painfully long transport sections, living on gourmet European dishes and wines,
break dancing, those crafty bargains we scored, or splitting a taxi, none of it
would have been the same without sharing it with you guys. Also I owe a huge
amount to some of you, who took me in and put me up in first class hospitality,
and really went out of the way to show me around, the debt is huge, and not
forgotten, and hopefully I can return the favours and do the same for you one
day.
Also to those people who I forgot to get the addresses of, like Fat Barstard,
and all the Red Necks in Texas,....... you made the journey colourful too! It
really is amazing where you end up in this world. After setting out initially to
see where my mum once lived in Europe and then sample some guinness from
Arthur's back yard, I turned the next corner and ended up drinking small cups of
tea in a cave and 'mooning' a flock of Flamingoes.... 'Tis a beautiful world.
And so, until the feet get itchy again, or the bank account magically tops
itself up, it's time for me to take in familiar life here again for a while,
which is taking a bit of getting used to actually, but the old sack has not been
retired, and will be stuffed with clothes again and be out there on the road
eventually.
And if you head this way, I know some of you will, I currently sit at my folks
abode about 30mins out of Melbourne for now, be sure to drop me a line, and
we'll see if we can do it all over again.
Tot ziens, hasta luego, do widzenia, adjo, allahaismarladik,
Mark
