Team Patagonia-Alaska Success!

Dear Friends:

We have covered 23,113 km (14,445 miles) in 259 days of unforgettable experiences, pedaling from Ushuia to the Artic Circle.

Going through places such as Patagonia (where there are the strongest winds of America); The Atacama Desert (the Driest place in the World); the Andes (where we pedaled at 4,000 meters (12,000 ft)); tropical forests and jungles ( in Ecuador, Panama, and Costa Rica); huracane zones ( like in the south of Mexico where we experienced a tropical storm); Mega Cities (like the Los Angeles area); coniferous forests (like the Redwoods In California and the rain forests of Washington and Canada); and the Tundra (Alaska).

All this would not have been possible without the support of the people who believed in us. Starting with our families and friends that gave us the moral and sentimental support that is absolutely indespensible for a trip like this. There are also the people of BellSouth, American Airlines, Ecuatoriana, Banco del Pichincha, Starnet Systems, that decided to invest in something that was not that profitable , but had a worthy cause. We would also like to thank all people that we have met and helped us along the way; who have definitely been one of the best aspects of our trip. But, also thanks to all those people that we did not meet but did greet us; those who turned on their car lights, that waved , that gave us a honk for strength, that gestured with their hands, and that made way for us to pass on the road.

All the moments that we lived through, like the tropical storm, snow, head and tail winds, the everlasting hill, a sunny day, a sunset in the desert, a sunset at the beach, a 40 degree Celsius (104 farenhiet) noon in Baja, the cranky military, a boisterous boarder, a hurried trucker, an aggressive taxi driver, a successful businessman, a humble farmer, are all experiences that have made us grow and realize that everything and everyone are just a reflection of ourselves.

This trip was not a leisure outing, it was a physical goal, but more than this it was a personal goal. Its a goal that anyone can fulfill, it is all a matter of doing it without waiting for the perfect moment. There is no perfect moment to start, the perfect moment is the moment that you are doing it.

Every experience is unique, and no one can tell you what lies ahead, just worry about living the moment and enjoying it to the maximum.

For us one of the most important things is that the three of us who started the trip have completed it. We have lived , talked, hated, laughed, pedaled, enjoyed, and learned from each other; we have reached the final goal, together.
